Biography of Jill Stein, American Politician and Activist Jill Ellen Stein, born May 14, 1950 was a doctor, activists and politicians United. He was the Green party's candidate for President of the United States on the 2016 election. Stein is also the Green party's presidential candidate in 2012. He ran for Governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010. Stein was born in Chicago, the daughter of Gladys (née Tweed) and Joseph Stein, and grew up in Highland Park, Illinois. Her parents came from Russia to a Jewish family, and Stein grew up in a reform Jewish household, attending a Chicago North Shore Congregation Israel, a Reform synagogue. He now considers himself an agnostic.
Stein is married to Richard Rohrer, who is also a doctor. They lived in Lexington, Massachusetts, and has two adult children. In 1973, Stein graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, where he studied psychology, sociology, and anthropology. He then attended Harvard Medical School and graduated in 1979. After graduating from Harvard Medical School, Stein practiced disease for 25 years at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Simmons College Health Center, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and also served as an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School. He retired from practice and teach medicine in the years 2005 and 2006, respectively.
On February 6, 2015, Stein announced formation of an exploratory Committee in preparation for a potential campaign for the presidential nomination of the Green Party in 2016. On 22 June, she formally announced the nomination of himself in a live interview with Amy Goodman on Democracy now! After former Ohio State Sen. Nina Turner reportedly refused to become a candidate for Vice President, Stein chose human rights activist Ajamu Baraka on 1 August. Stein has stated that the Democrats and Republicans who are "two sides of the company" which has gathered into one. Concerned with the rise of fascism and the rise of neoliberalism in the Democratic Party.
