Biography Of John Lennon. Full John Winston Lennon, he was born in Liverpool, United Kingdom, October 9 1940, and died in New York City, United States, December 8 1980, at the age of 40 years. He is best known as a singer, songwriter, instrumental, writer and political activist who is known throughout the world as the leader of The Beatles. Lennon and Paul McCartney formed a songwriting partnership, and the most successful and successful to date. Lennon with cynicism and McCartney with optimistic complement each other very well.
